Made it work on a 4x4!

Whew, was that a lot of work.

I’ve got a fully built 6.0 van that’s got a 4x4 kit on it, and was pretty stoked when we figured out how to get this working.

Ended up moving the filter back by the transmission, got custom hoses made, used 2 reclock blocks in conjunction with each other (filter sits vertically now), but everything works and clearances are great!

Temps are wonderful too, I think the highest I’ve seen oil temps are ~205* in stop and go traffic on a 95* day

Oil cooler kit

Should be 4.75 stars. The bracket that bolts to the bumper needed to have the holes massaged a little, but otherwise a great kit! Instructions were great and the job went smoothly.

This product works great. The only down fall I have seen with this product is the hoses. I have been seeing a lot of hoses fail. After a year or just short of the hoses start leaking oil.

necessary evil

kits seems nice pretty complete; along with head stud kit new gaskets I should have reliable vehicle again, time will tell. what was ford thinking when they put an oil cooler under turbo?

Very happy with the product and BPD support.

Took away one star because the system had to be modified for my vehicle but gave one back due to the support BPD gave. The subject vehicle is a 2004 E-350 with a Sportsmobile 4WD conversion. It also has a Trojan front bumper with an installed winch. The front drive shaft would have interfered with the BPD oil filter used in this system. The Trojan front bumper would have blocked the air flow through the BPD oil cooler in its designed location. BPD kindly sold me the Oil Transfer Block separately from the system kit. (It is a jewel to behold, by the way). The Trojan bumper has a cavity under the bumper outboard of the winch box large enough to fit a remote oil filter. BPD provided the heat transfer characteristics of their oil cooler which allowed me to acquire a Fluidyne unit of appropriate size, shape and capacity that would mount under the bumper. The oil bypass valve was mounted to the back of the bumper. The ends were cut off of the OEM oil filter lines and #12 JIC fittings welded on. The rest of the lines were fabricated with Aeroquip lines. Previously when towing a 12,000# trailer up a grade on a 90+F day it was common to see oil and coolant temperatures as high as 230F. Now those temperatures rarely exceed 200 under those demanding conditions and run about 185 under normal conditions. As mentioned by another reviewer, it seems strange that the EOT and ECT would run at such comparable temperatures even though they systems are now separate. Overall, I am very happy with the end result. It wouldn't have happened without the BPD products and support. I will have a more complete write up on the Sportsmobile forum once I have some free time.
